ARCHISMS is a partnership between multi-instrumentalist Sam Cooper, leader of alt-folk-rockers Sam Cooper & The Sleepwalkers (samcoopersleepwalkers.com), and Chris Sies, an incredibly creative and talented percussionist and drummer of ska boundary-pushers Stacked Like Pancakes (stackedlikepancakes.com). The project allows them to explore sounds and structures outside of those usually found in their respective bands, to experiment freely and let their musical instincts take them into unknown territory.

This EP is the result of a few frenzied sessions conducted in August 2011. The songs took form through a process of pseudo-improvisation: rough ideas and cycles fleshed out collaboratively, tunes recorded quickly and without any real rehearsal, overdubs done on the fly in as few takes as possible. Ears were tuned to the intricacies of different sounds and tones, and fell in love with the conversation between them. Songs took their own shape.
